Welcome to the Internet home of the Northeast Community Band!
Feb. 18, 2021
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic:
We have been rehearsing virtually since Thursday, Sept. 17. We’ve been working on several pieces that we currently have in our folders.
The Lex-Ham Community Band announced that the Bandwidth Festival at the Landmark Center in St. Paul for October has been canceled for 2020. There is a tentative date in 2021. We will update this page as we know more.
All other gigs/concerts have been canceled until further notice.
General information about the Northeast Community Band!
We gather Thursday nights during the school year, adults (including sometimes high school kids), to play concert band music, such as marches, show tunes and anything else we can scrounge up. We practice from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the band room at Edison High School in Northeast Minneapolis and play about four concerts from September through May.
Most members have their own instruments, but not all. Some played or play now in school. Others have taken up instruments recently as adults.
There are no auditions and all skill sets are welcome. It does not matter if you last played in High School or College, or if you continue to play today. We do ask however, that you have experience reading music and know how to keep time.
Dues are $60 annually for adults and you can pay as you go, within reason. We offer a three-rehearsal “trial period” at no cost. Junior high and high school students are free. We’ve had some boffo garage sales, and as a 501(c)3, we also take charitable donations.
We also have community gigs that present themselves throughout the season. If you would like some music entertainment for a community event you are planning, feel free to contact us. We love to play out in the community.
We always welcome new members!!
