It’s only July, but it’s never too early to pick up a good Christmas music CD. All I Want For Christmas is a new release that can be downloaded from iTunes from the young and talented tenor vocalist, Bryan M. Lewis. The music is a breath of Christmas spirit that will help you forget this hot and bleary time of summer and get you in the mood for the holidays. Cozy up to this latest addition of Christmas standards and maybe get your Christmas errands done sooner.
Mr. Lewis’s master of his vocal range on songs such as “O Holy Night” and “Ava Maria” conjure images of Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé. This is a good first effort of traditional songs that are mostly serious and intimate. A few notable downloads are the title track, “All I Want For Christmas, the only up tempo song of the collection, the beautiful “Ava Maria”, and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” The latter being an a capella arranged version of the song that is richly textured using only three vocalists.
The songs were produced and recorded by Doug Gazley with some vocal help from Mr. Lewis’s sister, Megan Lewis and Grayson Baum. Mr. Lewis is a regular performer with local theater’s in the Atlanta area where he resides. Last year, he performed our National Anthem at the Atlanta Braves Turner Field and will again this September. He has a website where you can also order his Christmas music CD and find out more about this new comer.
Sting and Bob Dylan are currently leading the charge in 2009 with bestselling Christmas albums, but there are others in the on the act too. In this article, we will take a look at the new Christmas albums that you may want to add to your collection this Holiday season.
Currently sitting atop the bestseller list is Bob Dylan’s “Christmas in the Heart”. This is Bob Dylan’s first Christmas album and features his unique voice and style singing many Christmas classics including “Little Drummer Boy” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. As always with Bob Dylan, the reviews have been mixed; some loved this album and others disliked his performances. Chances are that if you like Bob Dylan you will be a fan of this album. And, if you buy it, you will be doing a good deed as all proceeds are donated to Feeding America, an organization dedicated to providing food to the hungry.
Nipping at the heels of Bob Dylan for the top spot will be Sting. Released on October 26th, Sting’s Christmas offering is entitled “If on a Winter’s Night…”. Many will buy this album because Sting is one of the greatest musicians of our generation. However, they need to know what to expect. This is not an album filled with classic Christmas treasures. Rather, Sting goes out on a creative limb with his fellow musicians and creates a more artistic Christmas album. Like Dylan’s offering, many people will buy this one because of the name and about half of them will not like the artistry of it.
As festive days are nearing you have got all the reasons to indulge in shopping. Like many others, chances are high that your things-to-buy list is quite big and fat. You would definitely want to decorate your home and, at the same time, you would be buying gifts for near and dear ones.
But how can you celebrate Christmas without aguinaldos, carols and popular Christmas songs? Music is the perfect ingredient to get into holiday mood. Just look around – shopping malls, hotels, clubs, community stores, television channels, radio stations and even your neighbors have started playing Christmas songs.
Without music your holidays remain incomplete – something like foods without salt! Lyrics, tune and rhythm create the right ambience for celebration. A lot of music albums and music videos have released and some are going to hit the stores soon. The whole wide world is going musical to catch the holiday spirit!
Go musical – Go with the rhythm
You have two options: you may choose to be traditional and buy popular music albums of 70′s, 80′s or any other period that evokes your emotions. Or, you may try the latest releases of your favorite music artists.
There is a third option too: take both traditional and trendy numbers and build up a great collection of music albums this winter. Some of the music albums are for your own; you would play them to fill your home with music before during and after Christmas. And some of the albums could be presented to others. You were to buy Christmas gifts for near and dear ones – why don’t you present them with hot music albums of the time?
