General information about the Northeast Community Band!
We gather Thursday nights during the school year, adults (including sometimes high school kids), to play concert band music, such as marches, show tunes and anything else we can scrounge up. We practice from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the band room at Edison High School in Northeast Minneapolis and play about four concerts from September through May.
Most members have their own instruments, but not all. Some played or play now in school. Others have taken up instruments recently as adults.
There are no auditions and all skill sets are welcome. It does not matter if you last played in High School or College, or if you continue to play today. We do ask however, that you have experience reading music and know how to keep time.
Dues are $60 annually for adults and you can pay as you go, within reason. We offer a three-rehearsal “trial period” at no cost. Junior high and high school students are free. We’ve had some boffo garage sales, and as a 501(c)3, we also take charitable donations.
We are requesting all playing members:
be vaccinated (boosters encouraged);
optional - wear masks in the building and when not playing;
optional - use bell covers if you are a brass player;
maintain 3 feet social distance from others;
stay home if you are sick and experiencing symptoms; and
should you test positive after attending a rehearsal or concert, please contact us so we may further notify others.

We also have community gigs that present themselves throughout the season. If you would like some music entertainment for a community event you are planning, feel free to contact us. We love performing out in the community.
We always welcome new members!!
